Bertram Asalhy states that the king's father gave him the keeping of the castle of Penne-d'Agenais for term of life, as can be seen from his letters patent which he quotes [dated at Berwick-upon-Tweed, 10 March, 4 Edward II (1311)]. He requests confirmation of this gift.
Nature of endorsement
Because he has attested his long service and good behaviour, he is to show in Chancery the grant that he has for this wardenship, and if it was of the king's gift by letters of his great seal, he is to have confirmation as he requests.
