The soldiers of the castle and town of Caen state that they have long sued to the king for their wages, which Andrew Hogan [Ogard], knight, formerly Captain of Caen, and James Drylond, esquire, are withholding. They ask that this matter might be determined in Chancery, without any plea or process, for they are so impoverished that they cannot sue any longer, and some of them are in the Counter and other prisons for their expenses.

Note
CPR 1446-1452 p.527 is dated 15 February 1452, and would seem to be in response to a number of complaints, of which this is probably one. The officials specifically mentioned there are Thomas Hoo, late Chancellor of Normandy, and Andrew Ogard, late Captain of Caen.
