Nature of request
Galhard de Margis states that the king's grandfather owed his father, Raymond de Margis, a certain sum of money, and also owed other debts to other people from the Duchy of Guyenne. Raymond and three others were constituted their proctors, and travelled to England to receive the debts, and Raymonds' debt was assigned to him from the customs of Southampton and Ipswich. Raymond died before any payment could be made to him, and Galhard has remained in England for six years, waiting for payment of this debt, with Raymond Arnold de Mountsinser, his father's companion. Raymond Arnold is refusing to pay him his share of this debt, despite having letters from the king under the privy seal ordering him to do so. He requests letters under the great seal to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer, for Raymond Arnold to pay Galhard what is owed to him from what he has received from the issues of these customs, pound for pound and shilling for shilling.
Nature of endorsement
This bill is to be sent to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer to inform themselves concerning the things contained in it, have the parties called before them, and do for them what is reasonable.
