Description

Peter (Pey) de Maderak (Madirac), kinsman and servant of Peter (Pey) Graunt of Bordeaux, merchant.
Name(s)
de Maderak (Madirac), Peter (Pey)
Addressees
King.
Occupation
servant of Peter (Pey) Graunt of Bordeaux, merchant
Nature of request
Peter de Maderak, kinsman and servant of Peter Graunt of Bordeaux, merchant, states that a commission was granted to Nicholas Maudyt, sergeant-at-arms to arrest the brother of the Count of Perigord and all ships, vessels, wines and other goods and gear found with him, and that by virtue of that commission he arrested Peter, and his goods, supposing that he was the Count's brother, whereas he has no connection with, or knowledge of, him. He asks that he might be released as soon as possible, and his goods returned to him shortly.
Nature of endorsement
Because on the third day of March in the third year etc., before my lords the bishops of Exeter, Chancellor, of Bath, Treasurer, of Hereford and of Bangor, and the Earls of Northumberland, Westmorland and Worcester, and the lords Berkeley and Lovel, the Keeper of the Privy Seal, J. Scarle, L. Allerthorp, H. Waterton, J. Frome and J. Cursoun, it was made clear that Peter de Maderak named above, arrested because he was alleged to be the brother of the Count of Perigord, as is mentioned above, is not the brother of the said Count, and had no knowledge of him. It was agreed that the said Peter, and all his goods and gear arrested for the aforesaid reason should be disarrested, and those goods and gear, in whosesoever hands they are, delivered to the same Peter; and that individual writs should be sent to those whom it concerns.
