Name(s)
de la Mote, Raymond William (Ramon Guilhem)
Addressees
King and council.
Occupation
sergeant-at-arms
Nature of request
Raymond William de la Mote states that the king has given him £10 sterling annually from the lands and rents of the Abbot of Saint-Sever, the king's rebel, which are in the prevote of Born, as can be seen from the king's letters patent, a transcript of which is sewn to this petition, but the Seneschal has given these lands and rents to the Bascle of Lomagne in compensation for his losses, so that he cannot receive his £10. He asks that he might instead have the same sum from two houses that the king has in Bordeaux.
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege. The Seneschal and Constable are to be ordered that, in the place of the £10 which they were accustomed to receive they are to assign to them the rent of the houses mentioned here up to the value of £6 annually at the king's pleasure, and if the houses are worth more, then the king is to be answered of the surplus.
Places mentioned

Lomagne, [Guyenne, France]
Bordeaux, [Guyenne, France].
People mentioned

Note
SC 8/289/14439 is dated 24 April 12 Edward III (1338), and the grant of an annual rent from two houses in Bordeaux, to replace the rents from the lands of the Abbot of Saint-Sever, is made on 21 Jun 14 Edward III (1340) (m.17 of C 61/52). This petition would therefore seem to date from 1340.
