Description
Petitioners
Albert (Aubert) Megge (Mege), clerk.
Name(s)
Megge (Mege), Albert (Aubert)
Addressees
King and council.
Occupation
clerk
Nature of request
Albert Megge makes two requests:1) He states that £298 9s. 4d. sterling is due to him for loans made to expedite the king's business and for other things, and that letters have been sent to various Constables of Bordeaux to give him payment or a suitable assignment on the issues of the custom of Royan or elsewhere; but that nothing has been done. He asks that the Constable of Bordeaux might be ordered to give him payment or an assignment, notwithstanding any other command or ordinance from the king.2) He asks that the Constable of Bordeaux might be ordered to pay him the arrears of the fee due to him for his office of counsellor, and he asks that his fee might be paid him in future, as he received it in the time of the king's father and grandfather, and in the present king's time, notwithstanding any other command or ordinance from the king.
Nature of endorsement
[On face, to first] He is to have a [writ of] cum pluries.[To second] The council does not agree that he should receive a fee by reason of his office.[None on dorse]
Places mentioned

Royan, [Saintonge, France].
People mentioned
John Darcy
William Santz (Guilhem Santz) de Pomers (Pommiers)
[Edward I], King of England
[Edward II], King of England.
Note
From the mention of the king's father and grandfather, this petition would seem to date from the early years of the reign of Edward III. John Darcy and William de Seintz, Lord of Pommiers, named here in connection with the first petition, were granted powers to receive into the king's peace the nobles and men of Agen and others who adhered to the French on 27 April 4 Edward III (1330) (m.10 of C 61/42). This petition would seem likely to date from a few years after this.
