Nature of request
Robert de la Grave states that the king of France has sent his letters patent to deliver the castle and borough of Saintes to the Seneschal of Gascony, or to others on the king's behalf, and the Seneschal had sent him and another to present these letters to the French Seneschal of Saintonge or his lieutenant, but the lieutenant replied that they did not hold the borough and castle of Saintes, but that they had been delivered to the Comte d'Alencon; and there was a long discussion of this, as is contained in the public charter which Robert has with him. He asks that the King of France might be ordered to deliver the castle and borough to the king's people as he had promised. He also requests arrangements for the return of stones and other things taken from the castle and borough.
Nature of endorsement
[On face] With regard to this, letters have been drawn up and will be delivered to John Travers, the Constable.[None on dorse]

Note
Datable with reference to John Travers, Constable of Bordeaux between June 1331 and February 1335. He was also Constable between April 1324 and Easter 1326, but this date seems less likely.
