Nature of request
[This petition is partly illegible] Auda Despleccat, widow of Hugh de Gabaudun, states that her husband [was killed and] her son, Hugh de Gabaudun, was captured by the French when they took Blaye, and is now in prison, and that she has nothing with which to support [her] ten children, as the French have taken all her lands and her husband's. She asks that Hugh might have the prevote of Saint-Emilion, which Hugh [her husband] held for term of life, and which the Seneschal gave to John Dyens after his death: for term of life, in compensation for his losses, and that he might provide for John Dyens elsewhere.
