Description
Petitioners
Proctors of Fortaner de Lescun.
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The proctors of Fortaner de Lescun state that at Michaelmas in the king's sixteenth year an agreement was made between the king and Fortaner concerning £4448 sterling, which the king owed Fortaner, and which Fortaner released to him for £1200 sterling which he was to be paid at the same time, to acquit his debts to the people of London. But he has been given no payment or assignment for these £1200, except for an assignment of £200 on the sheriffdom of York, of which he has received nothing, although it has cost him £30 to sue for payment. They request such a remedy that the agreement might be fulfilled, or that the king might speak his will on the matter; as Fortaner has left the proctors to pay his debts to the Londoners, and they will be put in prison if they do not have a swift remedy.
Nature of endorsement
[On face] He is to have the assignment of £200 on the victuals sent to Gascony that was previously granted to him, and around Michaelmas other ordinances will be made for the remainder.[None on dorse]

Note
Dated with reference to the mention of Michaelmas, 16 Edward III (29 September 1342), and to the mention of another Michaelmas in the endorsement. CPR 1340-3 p.511, which is dated 29 August 1342, is probably related.
