Nature of request
William Gordoun of Bourg, clerk, makes three requests:1) He states that when Bourg was seized he and his father were expelled from the town for being English, losing all their possessions, and came to Bordeaux, where they, their wives and children have nothing to live on without the king's aid. He requests some sustenance for them.2) He states that Simon Gordoun, his father, is owed £100 sterling, as can be seen from an account made with the Constable of Bordeaux. He asks that these sums might be paid . . ., or that the Constable might be ordered to pay him from the king's treasure or any other money, notwithstanding any other command given to him.3) He asks that he might have, as a reward for his service, the scrivenerships of the seneschalcy and of the 'assisages' of the Agenais and of the bailiwick of Agen, for term of life. And he asks that the Seneschal of Gascony might be ordered to deliver them to him as soon as they come into the king's hand.
Nature of endorsement
[On face, to first] Coram rege.[To second] The Constable is to be ordered that, when he has examined the bills, payment is to be made from the issues of the Duchy.[To third] The king has previously ordered him to provide information for others, and to inform the king. He is to have the scrivenership of the Agenais when the lands come into the king's hand, during his good behaviour.[None on dorse]
