Name(s)

Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Pouts Amaneu de Medelhan, lord of Montauriol, states that because of the late war in Gascony, the French have seized and occupied his castles and other goods in the Agenais, to a value of £1000 tournois of annual rent, together with damages of £4000 tournois; and in part compensation, the Earl, the king's brother, had assigned him £200 of rent from the castellany of Blanquefort. This entire castellany, except for two parishes, is in the king's hand, and he has had great trouble conquering it; but notwithstanding his trouble and expenses, the Constable of Bordeaux is demanding that he render account for the issues of the entire castellany, and the king's ministers are harassing him and summoning him into court by false authority. He asks that the Constable might be ordered not to force him to render account for the issues of the castellany, and that the Seneschal and other officials might be ordered to leave him in peace in the castellany, until he has recovered his property.
