Nature of request
Margaret, Vicomtesse of Bearn and of Foix, makes two requests:1) She states that due execution of the testament of her father, Gaston de Bearn, has been unreasonably delayed. She asks that some noble man of the Duchy of Guyenne, as the Seneschal is not there, and the Seneschal when he is there, might be ordered to have the testament upheld and carried out in due manner, according to the laws and customs of the country; and that if anyone is found hindering or obstructing the execution of this testament unduly, that he might be compelled to carry it out.2) She states that as she has sworn to be good and loyal to the king, and he has sworn to protect her from wrong and from force, he might also uphold her in her rightful possessions, and take her into his special protection and safekeeping. And she requests letters patent for this, according to the due form.
