Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/288/14393
Date
[1327-1330]
Description
Petitioners
Ellis (Elias, Elies) Oudewyn (Audoin).
Name(s)
Oudewyn (Audoin), Ellis (Elias, Elies)
Addressees
[Isabella of France], Queen of England.
Nature of request
Ellis Oudewyn makes four requests:1) He asks that he might have the castellany of Bourg for term of life in compensation for the castellany of Puynormand, which he held for term of life and which was worth three times as much.2) He asks that he might be paid what is due to him for his wages for the last war in Gascony.3) He requests a letter to the Constable of Bordeaux, acquitting him for the last year when he held the castellany of Puynormand, once he has paid him what he or any of his people had levied for that year.4) He asks the Queen to have consideration for his service in all the wars in Gascony and Scotland.
Nature of endorsement
[On face, to first] It seems to the council, if it please the king, that because the castle of Puynormand, which the said Ellis held for term of life, is removed from his hand, if the said castle of Bourg ought to be removed from the keeping of the Seneschal, he should have it rather than another.[To second] The Seneschal and Constable are to be written to, to advise themselves how he can best be served with his wages which are found to be in arrears to him by good account.[None to third][To fourth, probably answering the third] It is to be shown to the king, for him to speak his will.[None on dorse]
Places mentioned
Bourg, [Guyenne, France]
Puynormand, [Guyenne, France]
Gascony, [France]

Note
From the address to the Queen [Isabella of France], this petition must date from the period of her rule, 1327-1330.
