Nature of request
Raymond de Enevill states that in the first truce ('suffrance') between the King and the King of France it was agreed that all goods of French merchants which were arrested in England and not at that time levied for the use of the King should be returned to the merchants. Since then, he has sued to recover certain debts from William, son of Roger le Clerk of Boston and Jacques de Sutton; and these debts have been levied at his suit. He asks that these sums, which are in the hands of the Sheriff of Lincolnshire, might be delivered to him according to the form of the agreement; and that he might have a writ for this to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer.
Nature of endorsement
A writ of Chancery is to be issued to the Treasurer and Barons that, if they can establish that those sums have not been paid to the king at the Exchequer, then they are to permit the merchant to receive and have those monies, according to the form of the ordinance, and to have the said merchant discharged and made quit of them at the Exchequer.
