Nature of request
The Lord of Montferrand in Perigord makes two requests:1) He states that he has served the king loyally in all his wars, and has lost all his land except the fortresses, and is disinherited and has incurred heavy costs. He asks that he and his heirs might have Monpazier with its appurtenances.2) He states that he has served the king loyally with at least fifteen men-at-arms and sixty archers and sergeants throughout the war at his own expense, and asks that he might be paid wages for his men.
Nature of endorsement
With regard to the first article, the king wills that he have it for term of life if he can conquer it out of the hands of the enemy, saving to the king his dues and his lordship.With regard to the second article, the king is not obliged to do this.
