The people and merchants of Gascony state that, when the town of Langon was in the king's hand, they paid customs on their wines there, but that since it has been in the hand of the King of France, they have paid, and still pay, 10s. of good tournois on each tun that they carry to England, over and above the ancient customs, to their great harm; but are not charged so heavily on wines they carry to France.
