Nature of request
William Jordan de Cabenak states that he was in the king's service in Talmont when it was besieged, in the company of the Lord of Landrax, and that the French have burnt his houses and stolen his lands. He requests letters to the Constable of Bordeaux to give him an allowance for his damages, which amount to £50 sterling, so that he might be able to serve the king as he used to.
Nature of endorsement
The king has ordained that certain great people will be sent quickly with full power to do the things which are appropriate and profitable for himself and his subjects; and the king will order them that, when they have informed themselves of his losses, they are to give him such recompense as is appropriate and as might reasonably suffice.
