Date
[c. 1332]
Description
Petitioners
Raymond (Ramon) Durand (Durant), knight.
Name(s)
Durand (Durant), Raymond (Ramon)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Raymond Durand makes two requests:1) He requests a letter to the Constable of Bordeaux to pay him the arrears of his gift (donacion) and his other wages.2) He requests a letter so that he might safely return [home], so that he and the king's other barons are not appealed on their arrival in the seneschalcy of the Landes, and that Bertram de Lescoures might be regent of the seneschalcy if they are appealed; or that he might be appointed Mayor of Bordeaux, an office that he has held before, so that he might maintain his estate.
Nature of endorsement
Monsire Raymond Durant. The Constable of Bordeaux is to be ordered to account with him, and to pay him what is found from the account to be due to him, as soon as he properly can.
Places mentioned
Landes, [Gascony, France]
Bordeaux, [Guyenne, France].
People mentioned
Bertram (Bertran) de Lescoures.
Note
From the content, datable to the aftermath of the war of St Sardos. The petitioner had been banished, but the banishment was revoked, and on 20 September 1332 he was restored to his previous office of Seneschal of the Landes; and the king also orders the Seneschal of Gascony to do justice to him in the matter of an attack on his lands in 3 October of that year (both m.2 of C 61/44). The note of the petitioner's name on the dorse might suggest that this petition was presented with SC 8/287/14320.
