Nature of request
Doat Amaneu states that he has served the king and his father for twenty-five years and more, in Scotland, Gascony, England and Flanders, and that because of this service he has lost all his possessions in the Agenais. He requests the bailiwick of Castillones with its appurtenances in compensation, to hold for term of life whenever it is out of the hands of the French, and that he might govern it in person or through an attorney.
Nature of endorsement
[On face] Coram rege. [Another endorsement on the face has been deleted].[On dorse] He is to have the aforementioned bailiwick for term of life, and the seneschal is to be ordered to put him in possession when it is in the king's hand.

Castillones was granted to the petitioner on 15 August 15 Edward III (1341) (Carte, vol. I p.108, m.7 of C 61/53), in consideration of more than twenty-five years' service. This is clearly in response to this petition.
