Description
Petitioners
John (Joan) de Moninas (Moinnas) and Bertram (Bertran) de Bairoines, citizens and merchants of Bayonne.
Name(s)
de Moninas (Moinnas); de Bairoines, John (Joan); Bertram (Bertran)
Addressees
King and council.
Occupation
merchants of Bayonne
Nature of request
John de Moninas and Bertram de Bairoines, citizens and merchants of Bayonne, state that when they were at Blaye, in the peace of God and of the king, they were robbed of their goods and money by a large number of people, whom they name. The malefactors afterwards bound themselves before Guy Ferre, Seneschal of Gascony, to repay them by a certain date; but they have had no repayment although three years have passed. They ask that they might keep the peldges made by the malefactors, to the sum of their losses.
Nature of endorsement
They are to come before the king's clerks (?) at the time of the payment of their wages, and what is reasonable is to be done for them.

Guy Ferre, Seneschal of Gascony.
Note
Guy Ferre was Seneschal of Gascony between October 1300 and February 1301, and between August 1308 and September 1309. Allowing for a lapse of three years, this gives a date of between c. 1303 and c. 1312 - but from the hand, the petition is perhaps more likely to date from 1311-1312.
