Nature of request
Writ of Edward II to the bailiffs of the Abbot of Ramsey at St Ives, stating that in the time of the King's father, Peter de St Paul was robbed at sea of goods to the value of £350 by John Pedrague of Artois and other malefactors of the Countess of Artois, the goods being taken to 'Hauk' in the county of Dreux, and that despite frequent requests from the King's father, the present King and the King of France, the Countess has refused to give him justice or compensation; and therefore ordering them to seize goods of the men and merchants of the Countess of Artois to the value of £350, and to keep them until Peter is satisfied for his losses, or they have some other command from the King.
