[This petition is badly damaged, and only about half survives] The proctors of Bayonne state that when Amaury, Lord of Creon, was [Seneschal] of Gascony, he settled an internal discord of the burgesses and community of Bayonne, putting the office of mayor . . . three years, on the express understanding that . . . when the term had passed, it would be returned to the citizens of Bayonne . . . three men as mayors as is the manner . . . might confirm one of them as mayor.

Note
Amaury de Craon was Seneschal of Gascony between July 1313 and August 1316, and the petition seems to suggest that he deprived the community of Bayonne of the right to appoint a mayor for three years, which has now expired: dating the petition to about 1316-1319.
