[This petition is hard to read] The merchants of Abbeville state that their goods have been arrested at Newcastle upon Tyne, at the king's command, as they are given to understand, but they do not know why. They ask why this has been done, and ask that, if it is for the actions of others, they should not pay for it, as the statute forbids this, and their goods will perish if they do not have a swift remedy. They request a remedy and justice, for God and for the soul of the queen. There follows a list of the goods taken.
