J 127
1919-1979
This series consists of a 2% random sample of cases in which the Official Solicitor to the Supreme Court of Judicature was either handling the affairs of a person suffering from a mental disability or acting in legal proceedings as guardian ad litem or next friend or applying for habeas corpus or leave to appeal.
Besides containing many earlier papers the files occasionally include some of later date. They are generally listed by the name of the individual represented or by the title of the lawsuit involved. The receivership files consist largely of correspondence with solicitors, mental institutions and other interested parties, together with supporting accounts and vouchers in connection with the management of the financial affairs of the person in question. In the case of litigation the files include a variety of papers regarding the proceedings, such as copies of originating summons, statements of claim, court orders, etc.
The files are arranged in annual blocks from 1968 corresponding to the date on which the case was officially closed.
