Folio 234. Draft letter from the Poor Law Board to John Kirkland, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southwell Union. They enclose a copy of the letter [MH 12/9531/190] sent to Fanny Wood, Schoolmistress of the Southwell Workhouse, stating that the Committee of Council on Education has been unable to award her a certificate. As a result, the guardians are not entitled to receive any allowance from the parliamentary grant in respect of her salary for the year ending 25 March 1857.
