- Folio 194. Letter from William Power, District Auditor, to the Poor Law Board, replying to their letter of 28 January 1857 with regard to the surcharge of £1:19:0 made against 3 guardians of the Southwell Union. He defends himself against not picking up the fraud when it was passed by a 'cautious' board of guardians and marked as correct by the clerk. However, he feels he might have detected it if the Newark Union had entered their non-settled bills more accurately, as is his own practice.
