- Folio 190. Letter from John Kirkland, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southwell Union, to the Poor Law Board. He presents a case for non resident relief and seeks approval on behalf of John Blathewick, 74 years, framework knitter, and his wife Mary Blathewick, 72 years, removed on 24 December 1856 from St Mary's Nottingham to Gunthorpe in the Southwell Union. The paupers now wish to reside in Sneinton in the Radford Union with son-in-law, Joseph Beadsley, a joiner, and receive 3/- per week out relief. When earning, the pauper's wages are 4s per week. The Southwell guardians have no objections and ask for sanction.Annotated, before sanctioning, ought to enquire how the relief is to be administered.
