- Folio 173. Draft letter from the Poor Law Board to John Kirkland, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southwell Union. They acknowledge receipt of letter of 6 January regarding the surcharge of £1:19:0 made upon 3 guardians in the half-year audit. They point out that the guardians must appeal against this surcharge themselves under their own signatures. They also state that the guardians of the Southwell Union should take steps to ascertain if a fraud has actually been committed by Elizabeth Duckenfield, Mr Allwood, or any other person involved in the case, so that prosecution can be made against the guilty party.
