- Folio 95. Letter from John Turtle, temporary Clerk to the Guardians of the Southwell Union, to the Poor Law Board seeking approval for non-resident relief for widow Phoebe Manser, age 38, and her 6 children (named and ages given). They have recently been removed from Nottingham to Farnsfield under an order of removal; but her father, residing in Nottingham, wishes her to return to that parish. His wife had died and his daughter could act as housekeeper and some of the children would soon be able to obtain employment. This would result in a saving of 4/- a week in maintenance. An application has been made to the Nottingham Union and they have consented for the relieving officer to pay whatever relief the Board orders.Annotated, asking which parish in Nottingham Phoebe Manser was removed from and whether the overseers of it have any objection to the proposed arrangements for her return to it.
