Draft letter from the Poor Law Board to the overseers of the poor, Bathley, containing an extract from the district auditor's report following his audit of the half- year ended 25 March 1856."Mr John Bourne, late Ass Over [Assistant Overseer] has not used the Rate Receipt Check Book, Collecting and Deposit Book, or the Monthly Statements. The 'actually collected' column in the Rate Book was not filled up."When a successor to Mr Bourne is appointed the overseers should stress the importance of his duties as prescribed by the order for accounts, in relation to the above discrepancies.
