Folio 81. Draft letter from the Poor Law Board to Thomas Marriott, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southwell Union. They forward communications [not included] with Thomas Pawson, Relieving Officer, regarding the expenses incurred with placing the lunatic pauper William Noble in Mickleover Asylum in Derby. They refer to the 69th section of an act which empowers justices to make an order on the guardians for reasonable expenses incurred by an examination of a lunatic and his removal to an asylum. If the guardians decline to pay Pawson, he could enter his details into the receipt and expenditure book and bring it before the auditor for a decision.
