- Folios 66-67. Draft letter from the Poor Law Board to Thomas Marriott, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southwell Union. They acknowledge receipt of the copy of Mr Warwick's letter to the guardians, 30 April 1856, referring to his employment of a midwife for ordinary labour cases.They refer to Article 199 that a medical officer must attend personally if practical: and Article 200 that when he cannot attend a legally qualified medical officer should substitute for him. The Poor Law Board therefore state that Warwick should be informed he must attend all cases of childbirth personally and stops employing the use of a midwife.
