- Folio 65. Letter from Thomas Marriott, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southwell Union to J B Warwick, Surgeon, Southwell. He brings to his attention the following information from the guardian's meeting on Tuesday, 15 April 1856. The guardians are to report to the Poor Law Board that the medical officer does not attend cases of confinement but employs a midwife in his place. The workhouse mistress claims that during her time there, the medical officer was summoned on 10 occasions to attend labour cases but did not come himself until after the births.
