- Folios 48-49. Letter from Thomas Marriott, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southwell Union to Thomas Manwaring, Poor Law Inspector. He refers to to a resolution made at a guardian's meeting of 1 April 1856 that in their opinion the relieving officer was not justified in removing a pauper of the name of Noble to the Derby Lunatic Asylum. They feel he should be reprimanded and pay all expenses himself for taking the pauper to Derby and returning him to Nottingham.Annotated, Manwaring, that he knows nothing of this case or the name of the relieving officer. Forwards letter to the Board for their advice.Further annotated notes by the Board asking if the guardians have sent any communication on this case; none received; 2 April 1856 request information.
