- Folios 712-713. From the Poor Law Board, to John Kirkland, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southwell Union. Pro-forma letter enclosing a copy of the teacher's certificate and stating that she is to be paid for the year ending 25 March 1871. It makes clear that the salary to be paid is the amount to be allowed to the guardians from the parliamentary grant and is the minimum she must be paid. It is also stated that the guardians must not claim the amount until it has been paid to the teacher.
