Folios 710-711. From Henry Pope, H M Inspector of Union Schools, to the Poor Law Board. Report on the work of the school mistress Mrs Fanny Hooton. It provides an assessment of her qualifications and salary for next year:
  • 26 boys and 12 girls were in school.
  • Discipline was very good.
  • Desks and furniture were pretty fair.
  • New books and a map of Europe were required.
The pupils learned Religious Knowledge (M), Reading (F), Spelling (F), Penmanship (F) and Arithmetic (PF). 12 girls sew and knit (G), 1 boy learns tailoring and one learns shoemaking.
