Letter from John Kirkland, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southwell Union, to the Poor Law Board, indicating the guardians' acceptance of a proposal to hold future audit meetings at the Crown Hotel, Southwell. Annotations, suggesting that in the long-term a new board room with better facilities should be built at the Southwell workhouse and the present board room be used as a dining room. It is pointed out that there is already a lot of building work going on at the site at the moment with the new infirmary being erected. It is agreed that the Poor Law Board are happy with the Crown Hotel being used for audits so long as the accounts are held at the workhouse or another public place where they can be easily consulted.
