- Folio 699. Letter from John Kirkland, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southwell Union, to the Poor Law Board, responding to their earlier letter with reference to Mr Cooke, Medical Officer, stating that irrespective of the charges which formed the subject of the enquiry, the guardians are not satisfied with Mr Cooke's medical skills or the manner in which he discharges his duties. A resolution to this effect was unanimously carried at the guardians' meeting held that day.
