Content
Folios 309-310. Letter from Thomas Marriott, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southwell Union, to the Poor Law Commission, detailing the minutes of the weekly meeting of the Southwell guardians. It was resolved that:
  • The workhouse governor [workhouse master] be allowed to have a daughter to assist his wife (the workhouse matron) for a few weeks because of her lameness.
  • The offer from Mr Enfield of Nottingham for the purchase of the Southwell workhouse at £750 be accepted, subject to the conditions issued by the Poor Law Commission.
  • The overseer of Rolleston be allowed to offer a reward of £2 for the apprehension of John Foster, a joiner, supposed to be at work in Manchester, Lancashire, whose wife and 3 children are chargeable to the parish.
Annotated by Richard Hall that all the resolutions may be confirmed.
