Folios 293-296. Letter from Thomas Marriott, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southwell Union, to the Poor Law Commission, submitting the request, from the churchwardens and overseers of Rolleston, for the apportionment of the sum arising from the sale of the workhouse and lands, formally the property of Thurgarton Incorporation. This is to be used to liquidate a debt incurred by a new valuation ordered and approved by the board of guardians of the Southwell Union.
  • Valuation as per bill £20:2:3.
  • Apportionment by sale £14:6:2.
  • Balance £ 5:16:1.
  • Printed form 'Aa' states that at a meeting of rate-payers and owners of property in Rolleston, the forms of the Act were complied with and the resolution was passed (this was to consent to the asking of the guardians to request from the Poor Law Commission the sum of £14:6:2 from the sale of certain premises belonging to the parish i.e. the workhouse and land.
  • Copy of the notice advertising the meeting which was fixed to the church door of the parish, 13 January 1839.
  • Printed form 'Bb' is a resolution of the parish meeting from the parish vestry book. The full details of the debt are given and the resolution is signed and dated by the minister, churchwarden and overseer.
Also included is the bill paid to James Adams for making a valuation of the Ollerton parish rates and the relevant signed documents requesting the apportionment and stating that it will be used to pay for the cost of a new valuation.
