Captain [George] Paddon [to Dartmouth]: he has been to Tangier and received letters from the emperor, his secretary of state and the alcaid, all pressing him to come to court. The emperor has sent a signed cessation of arms for three months and instructed the alcaid to sign whatever Paddon may draw up. This was signed on 26 May. He awaits the presents and has been promised the slaves on his appearance. He asks for the proper allowance. Dated on board Ruby at Gibraltar. No. 135
