Sir John Jennings to the duke of Uzeda on 30 April [French]: he is forbidden to incur public expense and can assist the evacuation of Catalonia only with warships and transports. There is a great deal of salt beef available for purchase in Barcelona and Mahon. He will soon be in Barcelona for the evacuation. Dated at Genoa. Captain [George] Paddon to Dartmouth on 23 April, enclosing copies of letters from the emperor, his secretary of state and the alcaid, although he believes them all to have come from the latter. The matter of the Jews of Gibraltar. He awaits the presents and asks for instruction. Dated on board Ruby at Gibraltar. No. 132
