Sir John Jennings to Dartmouth on 25 August: the king of Spain has decided to sail for Italy on 9 September. He sent a ship to Tetuan to invite the alcaid to renew the truce; he encloses a translation of his answer [below]. Although he appears to want an ambassador to treat with, Jennings believes a present is what is wanted. Dated on board Blenheim at Barcelona.The alcaid of Tetuan to Jennings on 1 July: the emperor [of Morocco] has been dissuaded from a truce by their enemies. An ambassador should be sent to treat with the emperor. Dated [Islamic style] at camp at Ceuta.No. 58
