Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/338/E1254
Date
[1305-1306]
Description
Petitioners
Pierre de Mourmel.
Name(s)
de Mourmel, Pierre
Addressees
King and council.
Places mentioned
Gascony, [France].
Nature of request
Mourmel requests that the losses and damages that he and his father have suffered because of the Gascon war be amended and restored according to the king's grace and will as they can only have restoration by the king's grace and remedy. The petitioner has lost his lands, rents and other things with all the appurtenances by the war.
Nature of endorsement
1) [Response apparently largely expunged]. 2) He should present his petition anew at the next parliament and then the king will have good advisement.
Note
The petition is dated to 1305-1306 as this petition seems to be part of an original file of Gascon petitions - SC 8/338/E1217-SC 8/338/E1260 - for which SC 8/338/E1228 seems to have been the cover petition. The dating of this group of documents is arrived at by the possibility of more closely dating several of the petitions in this group, and these are noted when necessary. In addition, almost all of the petitions bear the old PRO references to Diplomatic Documents 1542 and 1548.
Related material

The petition belongs to a probable original file consisting of SC 8/338/E1217- SC 8/338/E1260 of which SC 8/338/E1228 was probably the cover petition judging from its endorsement, see SC 8/338/E1228
