The proctor states that he has resided in England 11 years to attend to payment and has incurred great costs and he and his companions are bound in obligations, and requests that he be paid so that he can acquit his obligations and have his sustenance, for if he is not aided he will not be able to remain in this country. He gave a petition to the last council at York and upon this was endorsed that the Queen and the comte de Savoy should not be given the vacancies in wardships and marriages and concerning the 6d. a day that the king and council granted to the proctor at the time that he was granted the wardship and marriage it was answered that he should carry his warrant before the chancellor, and he will give him his writ to the treasurer and to the chamberlain so that his wages could be paid. Note
The petition is dated to 1305-1306 as this petition seems to be part of an original file of Gascon petitions - SC 8/338/E1217-SC 8/338/E1260 - for which SC 8/338/E1228 seems to have been the cover petition. The dating of this group of documents is arrived at by the possibility of more closely dating several of the petitions in this group, and these are noted when necessary. In addition, almost all of the petitions bear the old PRO references to Diplomatic Documents 1542 and 1548.

The petition belongs to a probable original file consisting of SC 8/338/E1217- SC 8/338/E1260 of which SC 8/338/E1228 was probably the cover petition judging from its endorsement, see SC 8/338/E1228
