Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/338/E1243
Date
[1305-1306]
Description
Petitioners
Arnaud de Puyhs (Puis, Puch) of Rions.
Name(s)
de Puyhs (Puis, Puch), Arnaud
Addressees
Council.
Nature of request
Puyhs states that the king gave at his last parliament a writ to St Clemens and Marbi to search the books of Nicholas Barret who is dead, for letters of wages that Puyhs lost in his passage over the Humber which refer to £13 9s on which was endorsed that the petitioner had received 60s sterling. The clerks have searched the books and found this to be true, but by reason that they did not have a writ to search the books of endorsements for the 60s, the petitioner is delayed of having his letter. He requests that a writ be made to the clerks, or to the one of them and to Sandale to search the books so that Puyhs can have his letters of the arrears.
Nature of endorsement
He should show the letters, otherwise nothing can be done concerning the petition.
Places mentioned
River Humber.
People mentioned
Simon de Seint Clemens (St Clemens), clerk of John de Sandale
Robert de Marbi, clerk of John de Sandale
Nicholas Barret.
Note
The petition is dated to 1305-1306 as this petition seems to be part of an original file of Gascon petitions - SC 8/338/E1217-SC 8/338/E1260 - for which SC 8/338/E1228 seems to have been the cover petition. The dating of this group of documents is arrived at by the possibility of more closely dating several of the petitions in this group, and these are noted when necessary. In addition, almost all of the petitions bear the old PRO references to Diplomatic Documents 1542 and 1548.

The petition belongs to a probable original file consisting of SC 8/338/E1217- SC 8/338/E1260 of which SC 8/338/E1228 was probably the cover petition judging from its endorsement, see SC 8/338/E1228
