Nature of request
Sygini states that his castle is destroyed so that he has nowhere to reside to his honour, and the seneschal of Gascony has an order of the king to rebuild his castle and nothing is done, and nor will it be in that year. He requests that he be given Talmont and Condat until his castle and place of Rions is rebuilt, and that letters be sent to the seneschal to hasten the work on his castle.

He should hold himself content by the ordinance made in the last parliament.

The petition is dated to 1305-1306 as this petition seems to be part of an original file of Gascon petitions - SC 8/338/E1217-SC 8/338/E1260 - for which SC 8/338/E1228 seems to have been the cover petition. The dating of this group of documents is arrived at by the possibility of more closely dating several of the petitions in this group, and these are noted when necessary. In addition, almost all of the petitions bear the old PRO references to Diplomatic Documents 1542 and 1548. The petition can possibly be more precisely dated to c. 1305 as it seems to postdate an entry in the Gascon Rolls commanding that a wall be built around Rions at the king's expense, that order dating to November 1304 (Roles Gascons, vol. III, no. 4666).
