Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/338/E1227
Date
[1305-1306]
Description
Petitioners
Perronne Constantin, widow and burgess of Dax.
Name(s)
Constantin, Perronne
Addressees
King and council.
Places mentioned
Dax, [Gascony, France].
Nature of request
Constantin requests some compensation by the king's grace so that she is not of a worse condition than others of the town of Dax who have provision, as her two sons were in the king's service all the time of the war, and because of this service she and her two sons have been exiled from Dax and her lands, vines and rents are ruined and her two sons killed, and she is without provision.
Nature of endorsement
The king elsewhere in the recent parliament ordained by statute for each of those who were with him in that town during the war.
Note
The petition is dated to 1305-1306 as this petition seems to be part of an original file of Gascon petitions - SC 8/338/E1217-SC 8/338/E1260 - for which SC 8/338/E1228 seems to have been the cover petition. The dating of this group of documents is arrived at by the possibility of more closely dating several of the petitions in this group, and these are noted when necessary. In addition, almost all of the petitions bear the old PRO references to Diplomatic Documents 1542 and 1548.
Related material

For another near identical petition from another burgess of Dax, see SC 8/338/E1226

The petition belongs to a probable original file consisting of SC 8/338/E1217- SC 8/338/E1260 of which SC 8/338/E1228 was probably the cover petition judging from its endorsement, see SC 8/338/E1228
