Nature of request
The proctor requests amendment and restoration of the hospital and bridge in the town which was destroyed in time of war by the seigneur de Tardets who was then captain ['chapiterre'] of the town by commandment of the seneschal, as it was covenanted with the people of the town that they would be restored and nothing has been done, and no poor are able to reside there.

Whereas the king wishes to make amends for others of his condition, he will have good council to consider what ought to be done.

The petition is dated to 1305-1306 as this petition seems to be part of an original file of Gascon petitions - SC 8/338/E1217-SC 8/338/E1260 - for which SC 8/338/E1228 seems to have been the cover petition. The dating of this group of documents is arrived at by the possibility of more closely dating several of the petitions in this group, and these are noted where necessary. In addition, almost all of the petitions bear the old PRO references to Diplomatic Documents 1542 and 1548.
