Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/338/E1217
Date
[1305-1306]
Description
Petitioners
Guillaume (William) de Laur, citizen of Bayonne.
Name(s)
de Laur, Guillaume (William)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Laur requests restoration as in the time of the war and truce when Laur was always in the king's service, the comte of Foix came and took into his hand Laur's lands, rents, mills, vines and houses in Roquefort-de-Marsan and held them for seven years and took the issues, and the vines are destroyed.
Nature of endorsement
The king is not able to make amends for all damages caused by the war because he himself has suffered many damages by the same.
Places mentioned
Bayonne, [Gascony, France]
Roquefort-de-Marsan, [Gascony, France].
People mentioned
Count of Foix.
Note
The petition is dated to 1305-1306 as this petition seems to be part of an original file of Gascon petitions - SC 8/338/E1217-SC 8/338/E1260 - for which SC 8/338/E1228 seems to have been the cover petition. The dating of this group of documents is arrived at by the possibility of more closely dating several of the petitions in this group, and these are noted where necessary. In addition, almost all of the petitions bear the old PRO references to Diplomatic Documents 1542 and 1548.

For another petition possibly from the same petitioner, see SC 8/262/13088

The petition belongs to a probable original file consisting of SC 8/338/E1217- SC 8/338/E1260 of which SC 8/338/E1228 was probably the cover petition judging from its endorsement, see SC 8/338/E1228
